Starting a Blog...to review books

A friend posted that Thomas Nelson, a Christian book publisher, is giving away free books as long as you agree to blog about them after you've read them. I figured I'd give it a try. I've yet to start a blog but love reading about others' adventures in life in their blogs. Maybe this one will grow into more than book reviews and maybe not but at any rate it's been started.

  1. You have a rare name! It is the same as my wife's. How would you like to review a book by an author that shares your name?

You can find it on Amazon: Brushstrokes by Lara Norris

Learn How to Walk in the Shadow of God’s Divine Protection
Book sets Christians free in their calling and God’s plan for their lives

LONGWOOD, FL—Each day we have the opportunity to add brushstrokes to our personal canvas by taking simple steps of obedience at work, in our homes, at church, and together as a nation. However, “obedience” and “submission” tend to be politically incorrect terms in this day and age because so many of us are independent, self-sufficient, and stubborn human beings. In Lara Norris’ Brushstrokes: How Daily Choosing to Heed the Voice of God Can Paint a Beautiful Life Story ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-61579-579-6), readers will gain a new perspective concerning their paradigm on obedience. This book will set people free in their calling and God’s good plan for their lives by teaching them to walk in the shadow of His wing and divine protection. The realization of this freedom will give readers an opportunity to change their paths and ultimately their destinies for the better.

“This is not an abstract book on the theory of what living with an attitude of obedience might bring; I have lived this book,” the author says. “God has been writing this book for over thirteen years through the experiences of my own life and the careful observation of my friends and peers.”

A married mother of three who has spent more than 13 years in the same church—ten of which she served in children’s ministry and learned the meaning of commitment and submission and how they work intricately together—Norris says every aspect of her life has dealt with authority and obedience. In this book, she hopes to help teach readers to be more “in tune” with the voice of the Holy Spirit so they might gain a better understanding of this integral part of a Christian’s life.
